We provide support groups for all those touched by cancer (all types of cancer). Our groups are for cancer patients and survivors as well as caregivers, family and friends and those grieving the loss of a loved one. All groups are facilitated by our trained volunteer facilitators. Groups are open, you may join anytime.
During this unprecedented time, keeping our group members and volunteers’ safe is our top priority. All of our groups are now virtual. You can now join our groups from the comfort of your home. We will be adding an in-person meeting back to our schedule this Fall. CANCER & CAREGIVERS GROUP For all cancer patients & survivors as well as loved ones and caregivers. GRIEF GROUP For those who have lost a loved one to cancer or any illness. HEALING ARTS Once a month group for all those touched by cancer (survivors, caregivers and those grieving a loss). This group offers support through different forms of art therapy and conversation. Activities include painting, journaling, vision boards, laughter yoga, and more. With the group now being virtual, we will still bring you art therapy, but will do this in new and creative ways. For more information about our groups and to join a virtual meeting, please contact us: info@kellyweinbergfoundation.org or (757)250-3220. |
Experiences shared by some group members...
When my patient navigator suggested a support group, I was skeptical. I felt it was our challenge to face on our own. I am thrilled to say I was wrong. We hope and trust each of you is aware how much you helped two people who were struggling and scared as hell. Individually and collectively, this group walks with each of us physically and emotionally as we work through unspeakable pain, suffering, and fear and you do it with compassion and love. Please don't ever take for granted what you've done and will do. You have the power to change lives and for that we all need to be forever thankful. ~ Denis, cancer survivor "It seemed to lift those fears off my shoulders. The Kelly Weinberg Foundation has definitely given me the strength to continue this battle that I'm in right now." ~ Susan, cancer survivor "I started attending the Kelly Weinberg Foundation meetings as a way to support others who are on their own personal journey with cancer. Our discussions are always honest, caring, and supportive – meeting participants wherever they are in their journeys and their needs at the time. Sometimes it’s helpful just to know that others have experienced what you are going through, and hear thoughts on ways to cope with the inevitable ups and downs of the path". - Steve, cancer survivor |
